Amid the bustling streets of Ahmedabad, where tradition intertwines with urban dynamics, a contentious issue has surfaced: the feeding of birds on busy roads. What began as a centuries-old cultural practice rooted in compassion and spiritual beliefs is now posing modern challenges.   In a bold move to curb this tradition-turned-nuisance, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken a stringent stance. During a recent review meeting, AMC’s municipal commissioner M Thennarasan directed zonal deputies to pinpoint and address these “nuisance spots”, citing concerns over traffic congestion and public health hazards.   Nearly 150 spots were flagged by zonal offices as problematic. The officials also told Thennarasan that these spots violated the 2016 health bylaws, prompting the AMC chief to direct the officials to act against the practice.   “People who feed the birds often park their vehicles on the road, causing traffic congestion,” the commissioner explained at the meeting. “Furthermore, the scattered grains and food also attract rodents and stray animals, posing significant health risks to residents.” ....Cont
