Gujaratis are giving usual Diwali holiday destinations like Kerala a miss this time for trips to places like Himalayan ski resort of Auli, Bumla Pass near Tawang, Mysore Dasara or the tea gardens of Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. Tourists are exploring Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Middle East to go to during the Diwali break.“As Diwali is a short break, people don’t wish to travel more than 6-8 days. The infrastructure in the north-east has improved and so has the air connectivity. Hence tourists are getting attracted to the region. Gangtok-Darjeeling packages are selling well among domestic destinations, while Sri Lanka, Dubai-Abu Dhabi, Singapore-Macau and Hong-Kong- Macau are international hot deals for the premium segment,” said Manish Sharma, tour operator in Ahmedabad
