Lions are completely safe in Gir and there is no need to relocate them, clarified Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Sunday, adding that the situation in Gir is under control now.Speaking at a press meet in Junagadh, he said, "Gujarat's lions are safe and will not be relocated anywhere. They are receiving priority from the state government. There is no cause for worry as the situation in Gir is under control now." Talking about the recent death of 23 lions, he said that top experts have been consulted. "Blood samples of other lions have tested negative for infection, so there is no cause for worry. The Gujarat government is committed to ensuring the safety of lions and is mulling best practices to avoid such incidents in future. We have asked for vaccines from America to protect lions. The Centre, state forest department and medical fraternity are working in tandem to ensure that lions get top treatment," he added.
