Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will allot 30 e-buses to the Statue of Unity greater tourism area out of the 225 e-buses to be received from the Central government arm CESL. CESL has floated tenders for allotting a total of 5,450 buses to nine cities in the country through the Ministry of Heavy Industries of the central government. Surat City will receive e-buses as part of the same. A total of 225 e-buses are operated in Surat at present. SMC has placed an order for an additional 225 e-buses.
