Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel called out Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that action is needed, not just words, in matters related to women’s safety. He also provided examples of how the culprits responsible for harassing women were brought to justice in the state of Gujarat. This comes amid a nationwide backlash against the Bengal administration following the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College last month. Gujarat CM, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), said, “Mamta Didi, we need actions, not just words. The POCSO Act and other laws for women’s safety are robust, but their impact depends on swift and fair action by local police.
