Police solved the mystery of stolen new idols of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra within hours here. The murtis were stolen from a tent in Punitnagar area of Pandesara locality of Surat. They were kept in a tent for installation in proposed temple, yet to be constructed. According to Ramcharit Manas Seva Trust’s Gullu Patra, the trust had purchased two plots for construction of a temple. However a local namely Bhanusingh was opposing construction of temple as he didn’t want any disturbance in his residential area. The murtis were brought here six months ago and they were worshiped by local Odia community people. When checked, CCTV footage showed, Bhanusingh had taken away murtis. Police nabbed Bhanusingh from Ichchapore area. Bhanusingh in his confession told police that he had dumped murtis in river Tapi. Police conducted search in river area to recover murtis.
