Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha that Gujarat has witnessed a substantial increase in railway infrastructure development, with 36 sanctioned projects covering 2,564 kilometres currently falling fully or partly within the State. Replying to a question on ongoing railway projects in Gujarat, the Minister also listed significant works underway, including new lines, gauge conversions and doubling projects across various corridors, as well as capacity expansion initiatives such as quadrupling near Gandhidham and Samakhiali. He said Gujarat remains a major stakeholder in the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, with 565 kilometres—about 37 per cent of the corridor—passing through the State, all of which has been commissioned. On the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project, he stated that land acquisition in Gujarat has been completed and construction activities, including viaducts and girder launching, are progressing rapidly. .......
