Ahead of likely visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Modhera in later half of September, the Ministry of Finance has notified rules for the issuance of a commemorative ₹100 coin to mark the completion of 1,000 years of the Modhera Sun Temple in Gujarat. The Department of Economic Affairs issued the notification, G.S.R. 825(E), on September 18, 2026, under the Coinage Act, 2011. The rules will come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. According to the notification, the ₹100 denomination coin will be coined at the Mint for commemorating the occasion under the authority of the Central Government. .........
