The Sabarmati river stretch within Ahmedabad will remain without water for nearly two-and-a-half months, from April 1 to June 15, 2026, as the state irrigation department has decided to completely empty the Vasna Barrage to undertake major repair work and replace several gates. The dry riverbed will also allow the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to speed up demolition work on the damaged Subhash Bridge, which is being rebuilt at an estimated cost of ₹235 crore. ..........
