The standing committee of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Thursday decided to cancel a Rs 118-crore deal for selling a plot of land to Om 9 Square LLP and forfeit Rs 18.16 the private firm has paid so far. The decision comes around a fortnight after the standing committee deferred a decision on the matter at its previous meeting on February 21. At the meeting on Thursday, the standing committee approved a proposal forwarded by the municipal commissioner to cancel the auction of 9,438 sq ft plot at Nana Mava Chowk. The auction had concluded on March 25, 2021, and Om 9 Square LLP had emerged as the highest bidder with a bid of Rs 118 crore for the plot reserved for commercial purposes.
