The Rajkot Division of Western Railway has commissioned the indigenous Kavach automatic train protection system over a 434-km stretch of the Viramgam–Rajkot–Okha main rail route. The milestone marks the successful completion of the first phase of the Kavach project in the division and is expected to significantly enhance the safety of train operations, a statement said. Kavach, India’s indigenously developed train collision avoidance system, is designed to prevent head-on and rear-end train collisions by automatically applying brakes whenever necessary. The system also includes advanced safety features such as roll-away protection to prevent unattended train movement and standstill protection to ensure trains remain stationary when required. ........
