A Hindu woman municipal corporator from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and her family were allegedly harassed, threatened and subjected to obscene behaviour while travelling to a Raas Garba event in Ahmedabad on Saturday night. Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident, police said. The incident reportedly began near Fatehwadi Canal following an argument over giving way to another vehicle. According to police, the dispute escalated when one of the accused, identified as Shoaib Shah Fakir, allegedly stopped the corporator’s car and abused her family. The corporator was travelling from Isanpur with her son and two other people. The group was following Google Maps to reach the Garba venue when the altercation broke out. Although bystanders gathered at the scene and the family resumed its journey, their car was allegedly intercepted again near Sarkhej. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) AB Valand said Shoaib Shah Fakir and two other men allegedly threatened and harassed the corporator and her family during the second confrontation. When the corporator lowered her car window to speak to them, one of the accused allegedly grabbed her hand and attempted to pull her out of the vehicle. The men also allegedly tried to break the car window and open its door. The vehicle’s side mirror was damaged during the incident, police said. .......
