With the Supreme Court pushing for a green and noise-free Diwali, Mirror found out several societies – old and new – in the city who have welcomed the decision whole-heartedly. The residents have vehemently said no to crackers as they believe that Diwali is the Festival of Lights, not sound.Children, youths and elders alike in societies like Le Jardin near Panchwati, Krishna Apartments in Ambawadi, Ashoknagar in Jodhpur have decided to spend their Diwali with their families and friends in an eco-friendly way. They are an inspiration for Ahmedabad which is already finding it difficult to breathe due to deteriorating air quality (‘Poor’ air chokes Amdavadis; AM, Nov 7).
