The Gujarat government has announced an additional state subsidy for households installing rooftop solar systems of up to 2 kW under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, reducing the beneficiaries’ contribution to just 10% of the benchmark cost for general-category consumers and 5% for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) consumers. The decision was taken at a state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday.
