Government buildings across Gujarat are increasingly being powered by solar energy, with the state government undertaking large-scale installation of rooftop solar systems. So far, rooftop solar systems have been installed on 6,014 government buildings across the state. The government has set a target of installing rooftop solar systems on an additional 15,000 government buildings during 2026-27, which is expected to add around 65 MW of solar power capacity. The initiative has been implemented by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) under the Climate Change Department since 2011-12 to promote the use of renewable energy. ........
