Indian Railways has achieved another milestone in healthcare services by transporting a live human heart through the Vande Bharat Express for the first time. The organ was transported within the critical time window on Train No. 20901 Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express from Surat to Ahmedabad. It will be transplanted at the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad. The highly sensitive, time-bound life-saving operation showcased seamless coordination among Indian Railways, the Gujarat State Police, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and medical teams. A special green corridor was created by the RPF and Gujarat State Police to ensure the swift movement of the heart from Platform No. 1 of Ahmedabad Railway Station to the U.N. Mehta Institute. The organ reached the hospital within the stipulated time, enabling doctors to begin the transplant procedure without delay. Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager of Ahmedabad Division, Ved Prakash, said, “This is a moment of pride and satisfaction for Indian Railways. The Vande Bharat Express has successfully transported a live heart safely and on time. In such life-saving missions, every moment is precious. This achievement was made possible through the excellent coordination between Indian Railways, the RPF, Gujarat State Police and medical teams. Contributing to the saving of human lives is not only our responsibility but also our highest commitment to service and humanity.” .......
