Three workers hailing from West Bengal were killed and three others were injured after a high-tension transmission tower collapsed during construction work near Bhavpura village in Dabhoi taluka. The accident occurred at a site where a 765 KV transmission line is being laid between Vadodara and Olpad in Surat. The project, being executed under the aegis of Power Grid, involves the erection of massive transmission towers and the installation of high-voltage power lines. The work is reportedly being carried out by private contractor Transrail Lighting Limited. It was learned that the workers were engaged in pulling cables and securing components of the transmission tower when the structure suddenly became unstable. The foundation of the tower reportedly shifted, causing the massive iron structure to collapse. ........
