In a major step towards sustainable water management and rainwater conservation, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has interconnected eight ponds in the city’s South-West Zone to maximise rainwater harvesting and prevent water wastage. The project, undertaken under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), aims to ensure that excess rainwater from one pond automatically flows into other interconnected ponds once the first reaches its storage capacity. The initiative is expected to improve water storage, recharge groundwater and enhance flood management during heavy rainfall. The project has been implemented under the guidance of Ahmedabad Mayor Hitesh Barot and Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani. .........
