Amid an ongoing crackdown on adulterated food, Surat police and Food and Drug Department officials seized around 723 kg of suspected adulterated sweets and mawa worth Rs 1.42 lakh from Mahakal Caterers and Sweets in Sarthana. The raid was conducted based on information received by a squad led by DCP Alok Kumar, in coordination with Food and Drug Department officials. Police alleged that the shop was using duplicate mawa to prepare sweets and supplying them at wholesale rates to small sweet shops and dairy operators. The shop, operated by Bhavesh Chhagan Vaghasia, was located at Celebration Compound in Sarthana. During the raid, officials recovered 119 kg of loose mawa, packets of mawa bearing the names Shri Gwas Sweets and Gir Madhav Sweets, green and pink barfi, white mawa and around 140 kg of motichur laddus, among other sweets. ........
