The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday sealed 13 food and beverage units for allegedly encroaching on footpaths and road margins by placing tables and chairs for customers in the Mansi Circle-Vastrapur Lake area. The action was carried out by the Estate Department of AMC’s North-West Zone as part of a drive against encroachments on public roads, footpaths and margins. The civic body also recovered administrative charges of Rs 1.55 lakh from eight of the units. The AMC said food and beverage establishments often use footpaths and margin spaces to place tables and chairs, creating obstructions for pedestrians and affecting the use of public spaces. .........
