The Gujarat government has approved changes to five town planning (TP) schemes in Ahmedabad, Surat and Navsari, with several land parcels earmarked for urban forests, parking and social infrastructure. In Ahmedabad, the changes cover Hansol near the airport and Singarva near Nikol and the Odhav industrial area. The revisions include road widening and realignment, new parking provisions and additional green spaces. Under Preliminary TP Scheme No. 67 (Hansol-1), a 16,616-sq-metre plot has been reserved for an urban forest. Several roads will be widened or straightened, while a new 9-metre road has been proposed. Four existing 9-metre roads have been removed from the plan as they were considered unnecessary. .........
