The Ahmedabad City West District Education Officer has fined Sharda Vidya Mandir School in Bhuyangdev ₹10,000 after the school failed to produce CCTV footage related to a student’s hand injury during an inspection. The action was taken under provisions of the Right to Education Act and education department regulations. The student had reportedly suffered a serious hand injury from a sharp object on the school premises and required stitches. He was reportedly unable to explain how the injury occurred. The student’s parents had sought CCTV footage from the school to determine what happened. However, the school allegedly delayed providing the footage and later informed them that the recording for the relevant period was unavailable.
