The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has launched a pilot project using an AI-based dash camera monitoring system to track bus drivers and road conditions and help determine the causes of accidents. As part of the pilot, cameras have been installed in three AMTS buses, one at the front of the bus to capture the road and another facing the driver. The system will monitor driver behaviour and send alerts to the control room in cases of negligence or violations. AMTS Committee Chairman Parag Naik said the system will alert the control room if a driver uses a mobile phone, smokes or falls asleep while driving. It will also issue warnings if a bus exceeds the prescribed speed limit. The control room can then contact the driver through wireless communication or a phone call.
