The Central Government has notified amendments to the Passport Rules, 1980, revising the fees for passports and other travel-related documents. The revised charges will come into effect from July 1, 2026, under the Passport (Amendment) Rules, 2026. Under the revised fee structure, applicants aged 18 years and above will have to pay Rs 2,500 for a new or reissued 36-page ordinary passport under the normal scheme, while the fee under the Tatkaal (immediate) scheme has been fixed at Rs 5,000. For a 60-page passport, the normal fee will be Rs 3,500 and the Tatkaal fee Rs 6,000. In case of a lost or damaged passport, a duplicate 36-page passport will cost Rs 5,000 under the normal scheme and Rs 7,500 under Tatkaal. For a 60-page duplicate passport, the revised fees are Rs 6,000 and Rs 8,500, respectively. .........
