Pharma major Zydus Lifesciences has proposed setting up a private university near Ahmedabad with an estimated investment of around Rs 1,000 crore, focusing on higher education and research in life sciences, according to a news report. As per the TOI report, the proposed Zydus Lifesciences University is envisioned as an international institution with a full-fledged campus, including residential facilities for students, faculty and researchers. The university is also expected to focus on building an academic and research ecosystem linked to the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. According to the report, senior Zydus officials met top state government functionaries in Gandhinagar on Wednesday to discuss the proposal.
