The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has identified nine municipal plots near Metro stations to develop pay-and-park facilities, with space for around 5,903 two-wheelers and 246 cars. The proposal is reportedly set to be placed before the AMC Standing Committee this week. The move aims to address parking shortages around Metro stations and make public transport more convenient for commuters who drive to the stations. Five of the identified plots are in western Ahmedabad and four are in the eastern part of the city. The sites include locations near Vastral Gam, Nirant Cross Road, Apparel Park, Thaltej Gam, Gandhigram, Vadaj and Sabarmati Metro stations. The AMC plans to operate the parking facilities through a revenue-sharing model, with users charged for parking. CCTV cameras will also be installed at entry and exit points.
