The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a ₹25,000 fine on Samaras Girls’ Hostel in the Gujarat University area after centipedes and worms were reportedly found in food served to students. The incident led to protests at the government-run hostel, with students raising slogans and demanding strict action against the agency responsible for preparing and supplying meals. Following the complaints, an AMC team visited the hostel, collected three food samples for inspection and issued a notice before imposing the fine. Students said they had repeatedly complained about the poor quality of food in the past but alleged that no effective action was taken. They claimed the quality of meals had continued to decline and that the discovery of insects in the food prompted them to stage the protest. ........
